B.C. Leadership Group of People Living with Dementia

Members of this leadership group are living with dementia. They act in an advisory capacity by sharing their experience of living with dementia. Their guidance and perspectives guide all of the Alzheimer Society of B.C.'s activities.

Working with people living with dementia allows us to better understand the community-based challenges they face so that we can establish more informed responses.

Members of this group provide expertise and accountability to the Society’s work in a number of areas, including advocacy, education, research, knowledge mobilization and dementia-friendly communities. Collectively the group shares information based on their experiences to:

  • Ensure that the Society's initiatives are informed by the voices and lived experience of people living with dementia.
  • Spread awareness of the initiatives to friends, family and social connections.
  • Identify target areas that will make the most difference for people living with dementia.

B.C. Leadership Group of Caregivers

The B.C. Leadership Group of Caregivers informs a variety of the Society’s initiatives by sharing their experience of caring for a person living with dementia. Their contributions help the Society establish an informed response to community-based challenges faced by individuals living with dementia, their families and caregivers. The ultimate purpose of the Group is to provide accountability and caregiver expertise to the Society’s work in various areas, including areas such as education, advocacy, research, knowledge mobilization and dementia-friendly communities.
